[1] Overcoming Pornography, Masturbation & Sexual Lust, by Femi Lazarus
PS: Pray first before watching, let the Holy Spirit guide and interpret for you.
Notes from the video above (below is just a basic note, kindly watch the video).
- I will not dance to the beat of xxx (say what you’re overcoming out loud). There’s something about saying it out loud
- No pressure of sin lasts forever, it comes for a while. Once you stand in Christ and his word, it leaves.
- You have to take steps to be free. You can just wait and think it’ll go by itself.
- He shared interesting stats that explains the impact of pornography and how it affects people.
- Some of what exposure to pornography leads to:
- It destroys trust between two married couples.
- It makes some believe that promiscuity is natural (E.g. some say things like “God didn’t make us to live with one person for the rest of our lives”).
- Lack of attention to family and less interest in raising children.
- It can make your mind react to your partner based on expectations shaped by exposure to certain content (porn).
- It makes you not want to relate with people (anti-social).
- Sexual-related addictions come with the oath of silence. Nobody talks about it. Nobody wants to be labeled. BUT YOU HAVE TO SEEK FOR HELP.
- Greener pasture is not a place, it is where he says it is.
- Some word from God:
- Anything you don’t want the world to hear, don’t say.
- Anything you don’t want the world to see, don’t do.
- Virginity should also come with purity!
- If you’re struggling with pornography, beware of locked doors!
- Some verses referenced here:
- Romans 1:16-27
- Romans 1:28-32
- HOW DO YOU BREAK FREE ⛓️
- Please, we recommend you watch the video and pray through it. Below are just basic notes.
- That you know that something is wrong doesn’t mean you’re sin-conscious.
- When something is wrong you should know that it is wrong. That shows that you have an active conscience.
- Your conscience is the police of your life. If you bribe and silence the police then you are without defense. The more you give yourself to porn and related negative habits, the more you deaden your conscience.
- 1. You cannot break free from what you’re not admitting is wrong. So, accept that this is wrong.
- Some things are not after you. Check what fights the grace you’re contending for.
- Biblical illustration: Reuben and Joseph were tempted with another man’s wife. But the one who came out got the blessing (Joseph).
- Thus, we have to be careful not to abort the vision we carry before we mature.
- 2. Exercise yourself to godliness.
- 1 Timothy 4:7-8
- Isaiah 10:27 KJV
- The will! Do you really want to be free?
- Isaiah 10:27 NIV. People by feasting fat on God outgrow burdens. It gets to a point where the same things can’t move you.
- The devil fights anything that can give you freedom, including going to church. E.g. join the workforce to be accountable. You can’t leave yourself to yourself. Create a compelling structure.
- Unknowingly to many of us, we’ve won many battles without knowing there was even one. By joining a community, taking training, joining the workforce, church programs, etc, we’ve engaged ourselves with godly activities and defeated idleness. Be busy with God: praying, fasting, studying, enjoying the fellowship of brethren, etc. We have escaped in Christ. Let God plant you!
- So, we break off yokes, not by trying to break yokes, but by growing fat (feasting on God).
- It is not hit-and-run. It is consistently exercising yourself to godliness.
- Be systematic about your spiritual growth. Break it down and approach it systematically.
- 3. Keep growing!
- You outgrow it.
- Put a system in place that ensures growth.
- Just keep growing.
- You masturbate/watch port once a week, rather that daily as before -> Keep growing!
- “Nothing is changing about my life” -> Keep growing!
- “I did it again…” -> Keep growing!
- Holy Spirit is our helper also, He won’t leave you to yourself.
- You just get to a point, where you can’t find it again ✨
- Closing
- Stay in the company of believers. Stay where you can grow. Stay where the Word can reach you. Stay where you can be nourished. Stay where you can mature. Put a system in place – it is when you’re idle you remember pornography.
- Let the Word (sermons, gospel music, etc.) play on your phone. You may not be hearing, but your spirit is listening. Done with the word, put worship! Set structures for you to keep burning.
- Leviticus 6:12
- Some may say “Playing a video of people speaking in tongues is not the same as praying” -> You just keep on playing the videos – your spirit is praying. You are creating an atmosphere.
- Keep it burning.
- Some thoughts just can’t land! It’s a system. You are not designed to struggle as long as fire is in place.
- Even if you slip, you’re not starting over! God is on your side trying to help you! He’s not trying to cut you off because you fell. Keep the fire burning.
- Also, go to church sir/ma.

[2] The Science of Habits, by Emmanuel Iren
PS: Pray first before watching, let the Holy Spirit guide and interpret for you.
Notes from the video above (below is just a basic note, kindly watch the video).
- Bible verses recommended in this video: Please check the bottom of this post to view them.
- 2 books recommended in this video: Please check the bottom of this post to view them.
- It’s one thing to pray, and speak in tongues, very important – but knowing the science of habit development is also good (ie the understanding of the system, triggers, consistency, practice, etc).
- 4 queues he learned from the book “Atomic Habit”:
- 1. Create a queue – What is going to remind you to do this new habit you want to do? Something that triggers your brain to initiate that behavior
- 2. Create a craving – Every habit has a motivational force.
- 3. Create a response
- 4. Create a reward
- A scenario of the above 4 queues mentioned above:
- 1. The queue: Your phone buzzes
- 2. The craving: You want to know what the content of the message is
- 3. The response: You grab the phone and read the text
- 4. The reward: The satisfaction that comes from reading the message
- Verses referenced in the video here:
- Galatians 5:22-23 NLT = But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
- Galatians 5:16 NLT = I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
- Hmm, at this point, maybe read the entire Galatians 5…
- Romans 6:12 NRSV: Therefore, do not let sin exercise dominion in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions.
- Philippians 2:13 TPT: God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him.
